Topsy Turvy Meat Pie This casserole-type dish will go fast! Add a vegie or salad, and you've got dinner! Topsy Turvy Meat Pie 1 pound (454 g) ground beef 1 cup (240 ml) sliced onion 2 T (30 ml) shortening 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) celery seed 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt 1 can (10-3/4 oz / 301) tomato soup Biscuit Mix: 1-2/3 cups (400 ml) flour 2-1/2 teaspoons (12.5 ml) baking powder 3/4 teaspoon (3.75 ml) salt 1/3 cup (80 ml) shortening 1 cup (240 ml) milk Brown onion in shortening; add ground beef and cook until brown and crumbly, but not hard. Add seasonings and tomato soup. Simmer until thick; place in 2-quart (2-liter) casserole. Make biscuit mix: Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in the shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Add the milk and mix well. Drop over the hot meat. Bake, uncovered, in 450 F (230 C) oven for 20 minutes. Turn out on serving plate; cut in wedges.
