Cream Cheese Cookies 3 oz. pkg. cream cheese 1 cup shortening, butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3/4 tsp. salt (if you use shortening, otherwise omit) 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2-1/2 cups flour Cream shortening and cream cheese until fluffy. Add sugar, egg and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Add dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Roll into balls and flatten with fork tines on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 F. for 10 to 12 minutes or until slightly browned. Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies. NOTE: This cookie dough works very well in a cookie press or chill several hours or overnight. It is very easy to roll out and cut into shapes with your favorite cookie cutters for any of the holidays.
