I just love sesame stuff, so had to try these burgers. They were delicious, but please see the note below that may determine the way you cook them! Enjoy! Special Barbecued Sesame Burgers 1 pound (450 g) ground beef 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) black pepper 1 T (15 ml) minced onion 1/8 teaspoon (.63 ml) garlic salt 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) dry mustard 1/4 cup (60 ml) toasted sesame seeds 4 teaspoons (20 ml) softened butter 4 English muffins OR regular hamburger buns Mix meat lightly with all ingredients except butter and muffins. Separate into four portions. Divide each portion into two parts. Place a teaspoon of softened butter on bottom half of each hamburger. Cover with top half of meat and pinch edges closed. These hamburgers are best barbecued. Do not pierce with a fork or butter will spill out. Serve on English muffins and pass sliced, raw onion rings with them. NOTE: I made these as directed, and sealed them sooooo tightly that the butter couldn't leak out - only it did - and that caused excess flaming that charred the burgers! The recipe did say to serve them rare, which we know is a no-no. Maybe that being the case, they wouldn't have leaked. Anyway, I'm thinking that if you choose to cook them over low heat in a pan, or bake them, this may not happen. If you choose to BBQ them, I would suggest making regular patties, and then brushing them with melted butter when done. Even though my burgers were a bit charred, the flavor was wonderful!
