Ultimate Lotion Bar Recipe- created by Jessie Newman (I use GRAMS for more accurate measuring). 26 grams mango butter 26 grams shea butter (the soft, moist kind) 52 grams cocoa butter, regular or deodorized 24 grams beeswax First, I melt my beeswax in a metal measuring cup. *TIP* I use a metal measuring cup and use my coffee maker burner. It uses a lot less energy and heats up just enough to melt my beeswax and oils ! I always use this when melting a stick of butter, cocoa butter, etc!! Once the beeswax is almost melted, I will add my cocoa butter, mango & then shea butters. I stir all of this with a clean craft stick. Once all the butters are melted thoroughly, you can color or fragrance as desired. To fragrance, I just add a few drops of fragrance or essential oil until it smells right! I pour into my lotion bar containers, and then put in the fridge to cool. That is all there is to it! This recipe makes 4 ½ ounces of product. Now, if you do not have a scale that measures in grams, or if you want to make more than the 4 ½ ounce recipe above, here are the percentages for you. Use: 20% mango butter 20% shea butter (again, I think the unrefined type is better!!!!) 41% cocoa butter 19% beeswax So for instance, if you wanted to make 10 ounces of lotion bar, here’s how you would figure: 20% of 10 ounces is .20 x 10 = 2 ounces mango and shea 41% of 10 ounces is .41 x 10 = 4.1 ounces cocoa 19% of 10 ounces is .19 x 10 = 1.9 beeswax
