Orange-Date Cake [slowcooker] 1/4 cup butter 1 cup sugar 1 egg 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup orange juice 1 cup chopped dated Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and beat well. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the sifted dry ingredients alternately with the orange juice to the butter=sugar-egg mixture. Gently stir in the dates. Pour the mixture into a well-buttered and floured tin that fits into the crockery pot. Put into the crockery pot. Cover with four to five layers of paper towels. Cover the crockery pot loosely to allow steam to escape. Cook on the high setting for about 3 1/2 hours or until the cake is cooked. Cook for 15 minutes before removing from tin.
